Why WAIQ UHP ENTMT Exists
Sleep disorders and invisible disabilities are often treated as personal failures rather than systems design challenges. Misdiagnosis, stigma, and inaccessible education leave millions navigating complex conditions without adequate support or representation.
WAIQ UHP ENTMT was created to address that gap.
Founded by creative entrepreneur and disability advocate D’Tresean Burge, the studio operates at the intersection of media, education, and advocacy—developing work that is culturally resonant, trauma-informed, and professionally aligned with institutional standards.
About Tre
Tre Burge is a proud Iowa native and paraprofessional working with elementary school students with disabilities. He was diagnosed with type 1 narcolepsy with cataplexy at age 18, and advocates for narcolepsy awareness through content creation, local outreach, and his clothing brand, SLEpPY. As a trained speaker with Rising Voices, Tre shares his unique perspective and lifts up others’ voices in hopes of reaching the right ears and inspiring action.
Roots
Born in Davenport, Iowa. Early exposure to art and storytelling shaped a lifelong connection to creative expression.
Art as Survival
Following the loss of his mother, Tamicha Burge, art became a primary outlet for processing grief, identity, and resilience.
Diagnosis & Visibility
Diagnosed with narcolepsy after years of misunderstanding and misdiagnosis, supported by a teacher who helped identify the signs. This moment reframed personal experience as a systems-level issue.
Creative Expression in Public
Began sharing clothing designs and visual work publicly, using creativity as a way to spark dialogue and connection.
SLEPPY Launch
Founded SLEpPY, a lifestyle and awareness brand designed to normalize conversations about sleep, rest, and invisible disability through fashion and culture.
WAIQ UHP ENTMT Founded
Launched WAIQ UHP Entertainment as a creative studio and social enterprise, expanding work into media, education, and institutional partnerships.
Building Infrastructure
Developing original educational and entertainment content, including Waiq Uhp Club, while collaborating with healthcare platforms, advocacy organizations, and community partners.
